THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: What would you do if you wanted to buy a book for someone, but didn’t know what they like to read? Would you ask them? Would you choose something you, yourself, like? How would you go about buying them something?
I’ll put a little twist to this week’s musing instead of answering the question, I’ll give tips on how to give someone the right book for someone! This kind of gift giving should be done in a case-to-case basis so I’ll present you different ‘scenerios’.
Your bookish best friend’s birthday is so close! You two are so close and you know every single book he/she has read, now how to choose the next book that he/she’ll love?
You can give him/her a book that he/she hasn’t read yet but you already had and loved! Now you can fangirl/boy about it together.
Give him/her the book she has always wanted but never got. Wrap it in a really cool way, maybe even give him/her some handmade bookmarks so it can be more personalized.
You want to give someone a book, thing is, you’re friends but not that close and he/she isn’t that bookish too. What to give?
You guys are friends for a reason! You might know his/her favorite movies or t.v. series. He/she likes Game of Thrones? You might want to give him/her the first book in the series (or the box set if you’re rich haha). Sometimes, it is through watching movies then reading them in books that makes a person love reading. Go convert him/her to become a total book nerd!
Giving a book to a kid?
Give him the books you’ve loved as a kid!
Not much of a reader when you were growing up? Go give him/her the classic Harry Potter he/she will definitely grow up into a book nerd. I personally haven’t read the series yet (yep, don’t give me that look) but everyone I know who has read the series grew up to love reading.
Feel awkward about personally giving him/her a book? Too busy to think of something he/she will like?
Give him/her a gift card from a bookstore! It’s still a nice way of giving him/her something bookish, plus, he/she’ll surely get the book he/she wants!
